Playing on the mythology and imagery of Pegasus
– the symbol for the Kentucky Derby – this horse has a set of custom-built,
fabricated stainless steel airplane wings. The custom-fabricated wheels attached
to each leg raise the horse’s height, changing the viewers’ experience of
the horse. The artistic team of Erika Strecker and Tony Hidgon work on large-scale,
public art projects across the country. They have recently completed a sculptural
project for Berea College and are building a sculptural piece for the new
University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
